Over the last decade federal agencies have awarded millions of dollars of grant funding in an attempt to procure more pediatric devices.  Countless organizations, clinicians and politicians continue to champion the cause.  Yet, far too few pediatric devices are reaching clinicians’ hands.  PediaWorks believes the traditional technology transfer approach has been a major impediment.  The key to meaningful change is an approach that first validates clinical need, then sources the optimal technology and resources.  Since very little information exists on pediatric device needs, PediaWorks begins its process by conducting thorough needs surveys of pediatric clinicians.  It then force ranks identified needs based on potential clinical impact and required development resources.  For the top needs in each pediatric specialty PediaWorks determines an addressable market, identifies potential technologies and creates a project/funding plan.  PediaWorks then manages the development through a network of corporate partners, research institutions and contract engineering firms.
